Shrimp Larvae
Parque Marino del Pacífico has the best labs in the country, with highest bio-safety rules.
In spite of having a closed cycle production, newborn shrimps (naupli) are brought outside Costa Rica, from certified laboratories.
The naupli enter the Park where they are acclimated and housed in 6 ton fiber glass tanks. They are maintained in this space for 22 to 30 days. During this time, the naupli change their physical aspect and continue to grow in size until they have passed the larvae stage. The shrimps are transferred to the farms during the post larvae stage where, after 3 or 4 months, they are sold to the market as adult shrimps.
The chemistry of the water in the tanks where the shrimp are held is monitored on a daily basis.
